This Friday, August 22, is the first of several planned open houses at Freeport's Historic Bed and Breakfasts.
These wonderful pieces of area history will open their doors from 2 - 4 p.m., to allow visitors and residents alike a chance to peek "behind the curtain" and see for themselves the way life used to be.
Not all rooms will be available to view, of course, depending on which rooms are currently occupied, but the B&B's hope that there will be a good flavor of the common spaces, and perhaps some of the guest rooms, so that people will be able to appreciate the legacy of a time gone by.
To make the tour more enjoyable, there will be refreshments served at most of the homes.
The remaining dates for the Open Houses are September 19, October 24 and December 6. The December 6 Open House is during Sparkle Weekend, so the time may change as that gets nearer.
The Bed and Breakfasts participating in the Open Houses are Brewster House Inn, Captain Briggs House, James Place Inn, Kendall Tavern, Royalsborough Inn at the Bagley House, and White Cedar Inn.
